What we stock:
Bigpeaks is independently owned and was the first superstore of its type in the UK. We specialise in the fast moving sports of the area; We stock Cycles, Kayaks, Surfboards and SUP’s catering for the type of sports that are found locally.
At the Bigpeaks Store you will find stocks of all the latest gear and some of the latest bikes from many of the World’s leading manufacturers.
Try before you buy:
You can select a few bikes to try and then ride them in our car park outside the store. We find that trying a few bikes from competing manufacturers helps to narrow your buying decision and our staff are on hand to advise on fitting and set ups.
Our aim is to make your shopping experience both enjoyable and informative.
True Comforts:
It is our belief that no store is complete without an overall shopping experience, so at Bigpeaks you can have your Cappuccino crafted by a Barista, you can relax in comfortable sofas and watch the large screens showing the latest Adrenalin Sports action.
Where we are:
The Bigpeaks Store has plenty of parking and is just off the A38, halfway between Plymouth and Exeter. We are right on the fringe of The Dartmoor National Park and the ‘National Cycle Route 272′ runs right past the Store. The new Dartmoor Way cycle route comes through Ashburton too. In fact we are less than 4 miles away from Hay Tor, which regularly features on the Tour of Britain Cycle race.
Who we are:
Bigpeaks was started in the summer of 2000 initially as an on-line surf store. The following April we moved into the Store here on the Linhay Business Park, after buying the Mountain Bike Centre. That year we also sponsored the British Surf Team and helped the British Professional Surfing Association with promotion and Sponsorship.
We have also sponsored the Welsh Open Surfing Championships, The British Universities Surfing Championships and their Snowboard Championships too. Over the years we have helped a great number of ‘riders’ with kit and sponsorship and have sought to ‘put back’ into the sports we have in store.
Many local podiums have been dominated by our ‘riders’ and they have gone on the win National Championships too. One of our riders even became a World Champion!
We like to encourage and help and to let ‘riders’ show what they can do and enjoy their own moments of success! We still keep in touch with our riders who have over the years become good friends!
For some years we have also co-promoted the Devon Dirt (just under 40 miles of off-road Mountain Bike Endurance over Dartmoor). We team up with the CTC to run the event annually, it starts from the Store on a Sunday in late April. Check out our Facebook for news.
